my son recently has found a fun past time for off season entertainment. He goes to Cook-off competitions for Brisket, Ribs, Pork Tenderloin ect. He's been doing pretty good with it and has placed in the top three a few times. With that said, and it looking like he's hooked on this stuff I made him a cook-off set for Christmas. Never thought I'd see this Boy Cry but could have sworn he had a few wet ones hanging on his eye lids when he opened the present. Custom handmade Slicer, Trimmer and Fork along with custom sheaths and since he has his own Cattle brand His Father-in-Law gave him and his wife, i put his Brand on his Sheaths. Handles are all Mesquite cured and polished and the Mosaic Pins are brass along with the Texas Star in the Handle of the Fork. here's a few shots of his set. Comments welcome good, bad or indifferent.
Those are the first BBQ set i have made. i mainly make hunting knives and all are fixed blades. The son has already told me several people in the Cook-Off circuit want a set and I'm considering taking the orders. the website i have needs updating and i will do so in another week or so but this is what my free time passion is about (other than Hunting & Fishing). www.bulverdeknifeworks.com
thanks for all the responses.
ps: I really wished i had a set now for myself. guess i need to get busy.
Well, I mean heck, these make him a bona fide cowboy cook. His own knives handmade by his father, his own brand burned into the cowhide sheath. If camp cooks cry, this would probably do it.
Beautiful!!! I envy someone whom has that type of talent. Great job!
