We used to walk in over there about eight or ten years ago and never had any problems but I guess that's not going to do you any good now. You might want to try contacting one of the game wardens in the area? Good luck.
this is the link to the map which shows designated hunting areas on the north side of Christmas bay. You used to need a permit, but all you had to do was go to the site, find it, and print it off. They can also be picked up at their local office on site. The permit is free, or used to be, but you must have it or the rangers will site you.
A tip: I scouted the north side of the hunting area that had Walk-in access off the main road. There never was any water, nor any ducks, but it has been a record rainfall year so this might have changed. This is why you'll probably need to enter through the boat method and hit the north side of christmas bay in the designated hunting areas. Good luck. Let me know how you do if you decide to hit it.
The north side of christmas bay can be very good. We put in at Bastrop Marina and head toward christmas bay. Be prepared to get there early to get a good spot.
