I have a Tasco 3-12x40 scope given to me by a friend who didn't use it anymore.
I think I know why he didn't want it.
When I focus it at 100 yards, it's not in focus at 50 or 200 yards, especially at full zoom.
Does it look like this? This is a Tasco 3-12x40 from their website. Whether it's your model or not I couldn't possibly know but if so... it does have an AO parralax adjustment, and it's set to be parralax free at 100 yards. It should have an infinity adjustment that should be suitable (focused) for all ranges.
Not trying to be elitist here, but there is a reason some scopes cost $100, and others cost $1000. Is there maybe a reason your "friend doesn't use it any more??"
I would much rather have a mediocre gun with a great scope, than a great gun, with a mediocre scope. Unfortunately most people do it the first way.
I must have bought 5 mediocre pairs of binoculars, before I finally sprang for my Swarovski's. Should have done that first.
Take a bad gun, and put a great scope on it and great ammo in it, and you will still probably get your game.
Its a tasco (trashco) dude, give it to the kids to play with or chunk it in the trash. Get a real scope
