Danner Pronghorn. Excellent boot, affordable and no break-in. I would where mine all day every day if I could. I think Bass Pro, Cabela's, and Sportsmens Warehouse all carry them.
I wear the Raptor now. It's heavier than the Pronghorn, but VERY comfortable.
Had the Pronghorn's first, and loved them as well. Only reason they were replaced was due to lost (STOLEN) luggage coming back from Canada....
The Ft Lewis are really good and confortable, but at 12" a bit heavy for Texas. The Anacondia (sp) are a great 8" boot. Anything with the Danner name is going to be a comfortable long wearing boot. None I have owned required more than a 1/2 day to break in.
I bought a pair of the Acadia(black) in 1993 and wore them out finally after 12 years. Two years active duty and 10 years of hunting. I replaced them with a pair of GTX's last year and last week a bought a new pair of the desert Acadia's to wear on my drill weekends.
Used the 6" Mt. Hiker for years great boot but sizes seemed to run small. I would definately get another pair. Just bought the Prong Horn snake boot and haven't broken them in yet, a little concerned that they will rub my achilles tendon, but with heavier socks and more break in they should be fine.
Can't wait for Qual season, with these boots I can stop high stepping and nerviously watching the ground, might even help my shooting.
Will also wear them in West Texas for espinas, hope it doesn't make them leak.
