Check out link above for some cool slimline ideas..Scroll down to the bottom to see what to do with those little chunks and ends left over after the blanks are cut to size..

Gave it a try and it came out pretty neat..Only thing...limit center band to about a half inch...my first try was with a piece almost an inch long..and, while it looks allright, it's pretty rickety..Not enough length left on mechanism to really hold the top tight...but still works..

And, Bobby....here's yesterday's attempts on the rifle cartridge pens. Just some old casings I had on hand...Still not up to your standards, but I'm gettin' there....

Looks good to me. All I use are old casings.

I have done some with pieces and even deer antler. I really want to learn the inlays. Doing simple cuts and fills is straight forward but I want the designs. I need a few days to just sit and work with it..I have lots of mahogany and cedar to practice on. If I would hurry up and win the lottery, I could get that laser engraver LOL
