Just returned from Surfside. Fished from 6-noon. Weed was present but sparse and almost cleared out completely by 10am. Took home 5 bull whiting, a puppy and 1 spec. Caught a small blue and cut him for bait. Soaked him for an hr and something finally took it. By the time I could get to the rod, it was cut off above my leader. When I left at noon, the dark coulds were moving in and rain with it. Not a bad day considering all the weather this week.

Thanks for the responses. I went down to the 5th beach access and looked for any birds feeding. Finally saw some about 100 yards out from the shore. No weeds in the water and it was green. I free lined some shrimps past the 2nd gut and I started get hits and fish after every cast. I ended up with 8 nice size specks and some dink specks, 1 big sheepshead and 3 big gaftops I released. All in all it was a good day of fishing. Started poorin on me around 8:30 and it didn't let up.
