Rocks at Texas City Dike

How far out under the water do the rocks go out at the Texas City Dike on the right hand side driving out? Is there one place better than the rest this time of year for catching redfish? Would this be a good place for fishing with a popping cork and soft artificial bait? Any suggestions would be appreciated! New to saltwater fishing. Old largemouth bass guy here! Lol! Thanks, Ron

After Ike I believe they went in and pulled the rocks closer to the dike it's self. We fish at night with our lights during the summer. Lots of trout and reds to be had down there. You will still find snags on the bottom so bring extra.
The fish work up and down the dike all the time so for me I don't think any one place is better then the other.

As stated above, it gets better as temps start to warm up. There is a channel marker on the right closer towards the end. In this area the channel actually is the closest to the rock than any other spot. The next major theme for the TC Dike will be the drum starting to move in March. Use fresh live crab then quarter it on a circle hook. During April & May in the later afternoon until early evening it is great for trout.

Actually the ''Rocks'' do not extend very far out on the South side. I have never seen any crane out there moving those big things either. Personally, I have used a setup w/ a cork for trout or a heavy setup w/ spider weights for Drum or Reds. Ofcourse, one has to chunk that setup way out there!! The main thing when using any heavy setup out there, when you get the lead up off the bottom by reeling in, KEEP REELING IN FAST so it won't get hung up on junk out there. I don't know whats in that water, even a little ways out, but you can still get hung up. ALWAYS bring extra tackle. BOYDS tackle is mighty pricey. Starting March 1st....the $5.00 charge to get on the Dike goes into effect. Thats Fri-Sun only. UNLESS your a TC resident and those folks have stickers on their w/s...Free for them. Big Uglies are probably there now. Be safe and watch the speed limit...it's 25mph and the popo's do run radar...DO NOT LITTER....
