Southern, Red Pods Report 8-4-2012

Headed out mid day sat. trying to locate some monster skinny water trout and reds. first stop found a solid pod of ten fish and first cast with a jig BOOM! So my dad is hooked up and I grab a topwater and first cast gets nailed. Two fish one just over sized and one just under 28. Pick up and move with nothing. Head further north with the wind and find a pocket loaded with reds and trout.

I know there are always stories of the one that got away but we had just picked up and set up another drift in about 10" of water and I had just got up on the burn bar.... I look up and the first Pot hole I inspect has a log in the middle. ....... Things start going through my mind.... So I cast and a monster yellow mouth and explosion on my jig and the reel is taken a ride...

Just as fast as I get into the fight the lure comes out. Solid fish I wont throw out any numbers but all I can say is it was massive and it looked larger than the reds we had just sight casted to earlier in the day.

Tight lines...

Skinny water monster trout is the only way to fish.
