Bayside

Two more years and hopefully my wife and I can retire. We want to move to the coast when that happens. We would love to live in Rockport but don't know if we can afford it. Does anybody live in Bayside or know much much about the area. Good, bad or indifferent we would like to know. Thanks.

Dont sell yourself short, there are affordable properties in Rockport, otherwise I wouldnt have a vacation place there

Long story short...we had a lot picked out on 3rd street a few years ago. Had price negotiated down to around $6K and we planned on building on it someday. Some things happened and we were unable to go through the purchase...very sad day for us as we love the piece and quiet Bayside offers. That lot recently sold for around $20K so prices aren't what they were back then but that is probably due to the new sewer (water too I think) install by the City.

Good luck in your search. Rockport is nice too but I'll bet the taxes aren't quite as low as Bayside.

Look at Ingleside on the BAy. Nice fishing community.

My grandpartents bought a place there in the 70's and our family still owns the place. I have some of my best memories there, and continue to make more.

It is a quite place that we enjoy on the weekends. I can not speak on what an everyday life would be like, since I'm only there on weekends, but the people seem to be nice and I do not hear of any crime. It has one of the best burger/bakery joints in the state, in my opinion, Crofutt's. If you do not mind being 30 minutes from the nearest medical facility or grocery store it is a great place to be. I plan to retire there when my time comes.

My thought is, land is starting to sell higher there because Rockport and the surronding area(s) are getting over populated and more expensive to live. People are wanting to get away from the crowded tourist to a more quite area. In my opinnion, I would try and get a water front lot, otherwise, you won't have much of a view.

It is only 15 minutes to H.E.B. in Refugio. Very nice little quiet community.

Aransas and Mission Rivers nearby, both with landings. Oh, and I'll second Crofutt's sandwiches.....MMMMmmmm good!
