Best place to find black drum

When I was a kid growing up way down south, we caught these things all the time, and they were pretty much a staple at our house. I've gotten into throwing lures so I don't catch them much anymore. Does anyone care to share hotspots for catching them ? I'm pretty sure they are in and around marshes right now, but I don't know for a fact.

They are probably where ever you are fishing now. Try using shrimp on bottom instead of lures and you will likely catch some. I can't recall hardly ever catching one on a lure.

On a falling tide, you might try th north side of Bull Shoal, in East bay. Most folks call it Hannas Reef, but it is not. It is the only island in east bay, We have caught a lot of 2/5# drum there, using a dead shrimp on a jig head. There is a deep cut right next to the island ,on the north side, and thest where we fish.

Last year several times we where Chunkin gulp new penny north of green island and we were catching black drum everytime we threw out(18"-26")...ended up with over 30 between 2 people but kept our limits but had a blast hookin em' up...shows you they will hit scented baits if there in the area
