Most of my fishing only consist of half day trips to local waters. Typically I don't have enough pics or interesting **** to post after a typical half day of fishing to make a TR post. So I will just post a report from my fishing trips in May. The first day trip I made was to the river, caught a decent smallmouth and a handfull of other small fish that consisted of sandies, drum and spotted bass but overall the fishing was slow. The following weekend I had perfect conditions, it was cloudy, we had light winds and due to the recent rains it had the water up in some freshly flooded brush and grass. The bass were active and cruising the grass lines looking for a meal. I was throwing a frog pattern and cleaned up pretty well on a lot of quality largemouth. There is nothing better than watching bass crush a fly on top. The next weekend was my buddies bachelor party and I was able to go chase some trout. Caught some nice fish including one 23" fatty and had a great time. Ya its pretty much a put and take hatchery fishery but when it comes to trout waters near Texas its as close as it comes. Caught fish on streamers, nymphs and dries. Also caught a walleye/saugeye that was a surprise. I have never caught a walleye or saugeye so I cant tell the difference between the species, anyway back into the drink he went. Memorial weekend me and the wife went down to the hill country to visit her family. We spent one day floating a local river and had a good relaxing float with some fish being caught. Lots of red breasted sunfish and small bass with some good size rio grande cichlids mixed in. I got some good trips coming up in June, if you want more I guess you can check out my blog
