citica clutch bearing

I just got a new clutch bearing from Boca bearings today for a citica.

The old one is the BNT 1207

The one I ordered from Boca bearing is the EWC1012.

Well, just a heads up. The EWC1012 doesn't fit. It's too "tall". when you put the washers, nut, spring, then star drag back on, there is no thread left for the top nut and the star drag doesn't fit all the way 'down' to the reel body.

expensive little one way bearing! I'm going to find out if Boca has a return policy or at the very lease an exchange. I'll take a pair of orange abec 7 sealed ceramics and pay the difference

i've had a few citicas over the years. I love them. I hate to say it, but I actually like fishing with a citica better than my chronarch.

I'll probably be buying a new citica soon and just replace the spool bearings with the nice orange ceramic abec 7 bearings and it will outcast my chronarch!!!

What model Citica do you have? The 1207 went in the older models. Just from the picts it looks like you've got one that takes the 2396 or 3947. If I had to guess by the picts you gotta CI200D. It takes a different bearing. The 1207 is a deeper bearing that's why the roller clutch tube doesnt stick up past the collar..Dip

yepper. I figured this out late last night. I do have the 200D and not the 200B. I needed the BNT2396.

Boca doesn't make a bearing for the 2396 so I ordered one off of ebay last night.

This was 100% my mistake and I'm hoping Boca will let me at least exchange this $18 dollar bearing from some orange ceramic's for my chronarch

if not, I'll make somebody a good deal LOL. Seriously, gotta be 1000% sure when working on these things.

Personally bro, I'd just get the SMR103C-YZZ#5LD series. No need for the abec #7 orange seals. They spin better without the seals anyhow. Call and talk to Larry. he's over the fishing stuff..Dip

Really? I have those now. They are great but I really wanted to try the abec 7s. May not be worth it eh?

Personally Ihave tested both out. There is very little difference between the ABEC#5 and the ABEC#7's in terms of distance. Nominal at best. Not to mention the Orange Seals are quite a bit more in price. Dont get me wrong. I'm a Big Boca fan, but I also look at being practical. I replace all my bearings with the ABEC#5 hybrids. When I get done with a reel you can hit 45 to 55yds with the flick of a wrist instead of having to load that rod up and heaving it out there. Once you get that reel dialed in you can get between 60 and 70 yds on a hard cast. The average baitcaster will hold between 110 and 130yds of line. That will vary with what type (mono or braid) and size line. You reallly dont need to cast any further than that because you'll need some line to fight the fish with. Especiallly if you get one of these 30" class trout that have been coming out of the bays this year. I dont think I can remember a year when I've read so many reports of peeps catching Big Trout like this. I Need one myself!!! Ok, rant over..lol Hope this helps explain brotha man...Dip
