50 mg drag clicks when pulled

Whenever my 50mg is under a load, I can feel a very subtle clicking as I turn the handle, maybe about 10 clicks a turn. When I or a fish pulls out drag, the clicking is more noticeable. Last time I had it taken apart was regressing the drag about a month ago, I may of put something back in the wrong way as this clicking has only begun fairly recently.

Thanks

Alex

9 out of 10 its the main gear. Its made of aluminum and the teeth are probably broken off.

Call Shimano and order ....... Bnt-1325 and Bnt-2405

Its a brass set of gears. Alot stronger.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll call cut rate first and see if they carry them.

It could be the gears, or the idle gears, or the worm shaft/pawl. I would open it up first and inspect parts before you order anything.

Can you feel on the retrieve if it's smooth or not. Normally with the gear set the main gear( or idle gear) will have "knock outs" in them causing a skip or catch in the retrieve. I agree with B, check it out first. Just curious? did you happen to drop that spool? Reason I ask is that if you dented that spool that "could" give the same symptoms. Especially under a load...Dip

Had a guy at cut rate take a look and in addition to replacing two bearings, he noticed the pinion gear wasn't spinning fully, I do not know if it was a little off track or loose but he fixed them. Now it is working perfect again. I'm sure it was a mistake I made when I put it back together after greasing the drag washer.

I also want to thank the man at the cut rate on I-10 for taking my reel, he dropped what he was doing to take a look and he never did try to accept my tip..but in the end I had to leave the money on the counter after letting him know I wouldn't take it back.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
