I need HELP on Scorpion MG 1000 PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased a scorpion some time ago for trout and redfish fishing. I was unaware of the fact they were not approved for saltwater. I also keep VERY GOOD care of my shimano reels and I am VERY PROFECIENT in breakdown cleaning. However, that being said, in no time it was beyond use. Is there ANYWHERE I can get parts for this reel? It has become a project for me but I am at a dead end. Any help on this would be appreciated. Maybe it would be eligible for upgrade through Shimano. There is no telling how much I have spent with Shimano over the years and I have not asked much from them. Some help would be nice but at this point i will take what I can get. I currently have a Core and love it!!
Thanks for any help or ideas,
Aaron

PM Bantam1 on this board and tell him the problems you are having with the reel.

With that said, be prepared to have to pay. JDM reels are not covered under warranty work with Shimano USA.

If you have a problem with the MG frame and corrosion, the frame from the Chronarch 50 MG will work on the Scorpion 1000 MG.

That's what Bantam1 told me before.

Yes the parts from the CH50MG will work on the Scorpion 1000MG. The frame is expensive and not covered by our warranty in the US and this model was not intended for use in saltwater.

I believe the frame is around $100 if I remember correctly.

Bantam1, I never understood this comment. Seems strange that both reels are basicly the same reel, just that the JDM has external break adjustment and the US model doesn't. Other than that, they are the same reel, correct?

Are you saying the MG frame on the 50MG was coated and the one on the 1000MG wasn't coated to protect against SW?

Our frame has a special coating under the paint. We also have the upgraded design with the plastic guards to prevent metal to metal wear. The Scorpion was never made to fish in saltwater. It was designed as a freshwater only reel. We had our CH50MG spec'd to use in saltwater.

We never offer any warranty on the Japanese model reels. They are not intended for our market and this is why you will never see us offering them. We build our models with some slightly different parts to suit the demands of the typical US angler.

Thanks .

I'll keep up with the cleanings and see how long it will last me.

How long will Shimano USA continue to stock the up-graded MG frame since the reel was just discontinued?

I got my scorpion about 8 months ago and it has the plastic shield. The only reason I bought it though was because I got a good deal on it, otherwise I would definately go with the 50mg. I would take it to mikeinfriendswood on here and get him to fix it up for you.

We typically stock parts for 5-7 years after a reel model has been discontinued.
